Message From Management

As Principal and Deputy Principal of Colaiste na Riochta, we are delighted to welcome you to our website which will give you a flavour of the richness of life in our school. Colaiste na Riochta is a co-educational school under the Patronage of Kerry Education and Training Board, with a student population of 140 pupils. Colaiste na Riochta prides itself on our student-centered holistic approach to the development of each student and their individual strengths. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum at both Junior and Senior Cycle, delivered each day with the KETB core values of excellence, care, equality, community based and multidenominational at the forefront.

Students are encouraged to be the best that they can be, to strive for academic excellence and to contribute to the school community in a positive manner. Students are encouraged to take part in the extracurricular life of the school. Sports available to students include; Gaelic football, soccer, basketball, spikeball and athletics. Our students have opportunities to become involved in many activities including drama, Scifest, the School’s Digital Champion Programme, Schools Robotics Championships, the Student Council, the Green Schools committee and school tours, both in Ireland and abroad.

We aim to help our students develop the skills and capacities needed to support their wellbeing. We have an annual Wellbeing Week which promotes resilience and self-care.

We have an exceptionally dedicated staff who engage with continuous professional development on an annual basis, with a specific focus on technology and the most up to date instructional strategies. Our staff daily live out the ethos of our school by going above and beyond to assist our students to reach their potential. Colaiste na Riochta is noted by visitors to our school as being a very warm and inviting place and this reflects the care and compassion shown by our staff to the students. Our students return this consideration creating a mutual atmosphere of respect.

We place a high value on our co-operation with parents. It is through a positive partnership with parents that we can work together to ensure our students realise their full potential in all aspects of their lives. We have a Home-School Liaison Officer who links with parents on a regular basis, organises the Parent Council Meetings and workshops for parents too.

We hope you enjoy visiting our website and that it gives you an insight into the exceptional strengths of our school.
